As we know, the driving test is going through some major changes as of December 4th 2017, and one thing that will be changing is the 'Show Me, Tell Me' part. Drivers will now demonstrate the 'show me' answer during their driving test, instead of alongside the 'tell me' section at the very start of the test before you begin driving.

Here, we look at what you can expect in the 'Show Me' section of your driving test.

The 7 'Show me' questions

The driving test as it stands has a possible 9 show me questions. From the 4th of December, it will be 1 of 7 questions that you could be asked.

1. When it’s safe to do so, can you show me how you wash and clean the rear windscreen?

2. When it’s safe to do so, can you show me how you wash and clean the front windscreen?

3. When it’s safe to do so, can you show me how you’d switch on your dipped headlights?

4. When it’s safe to do so, can you show me how you’d set the rear demister?

5. When it’s safe to do so, can you show me how you’d operate the horn?

6. When it’s safe to do so, can you show me how you’d demist the front windscreen?

7. When it’s safe to do so, can you show me how you’d open and close the side window?

Good luck!

Remember – every car is different so it is crucial you know the car you’re taking your test in, and can show the examiner how each one of the 7 options works. It’s better to know them all so you can answer whatever is given to you.

You may not need to show the examiner how we know the brake lights are working, or show how we would check for wear on the handbrake, but it is something you will need to know once you've passed so learn it just incase!
