Yes indeed. Our weekly student car insurance is designed exclusively for university students and students in higher education, to enable them to borrow a car on a short-term basis. For students that are living at home, or who are coming home during the holidays and weekends, our Pay As You Go Insurance allows more flexibility by allowing students to pay by the mile instead. Miles stay valid for 12 months, so it’s a great way to start earning a No Claims Discount

This policy is designed to help students keep their independence and get the freedom of the road, even if they don’t have their own car. It’s helpful during the holidays for returning university students, and those who live at home and just want to borrow a car from time to time!

We'll cover most cars as long as they're under 20 years old, up to insurance group 32 and no more than £30,000 in value.

This policy is a short term flexible insurance option for students to get cover on a family car or friend’s car and will only cover the student to drive the car specified on the policy. The car needs to have a main insurance policy in place – as this policy will only provide cover when the student driver is behind the wheel.

A quote for insurance is based on a number of factors, such as your age, the car you drive, where you live and your driving history, etc, so the price will vary from person to person. This means it’s a very tricky question to answer. Being a student may be seen as a lower risk occupation so may help bring the cost of your insurance down versus some other occupations (depending on the type of student you are), however, new drivers and drivers with limited experience are likely to pay more than older more experienced drivers due to the higher risk of a claim. When arranging insurance, it’s really important that the information you enter to get a quote is accurate to ensure that cover remains valid.

It’s not uncommon for students to have two addresses. Essentially, we will need to know your home address and where the car is kept overnight. For the majority of students at uni, their home address is still likely to be with their parents.

So, when you’re asked your home address, enter what you consider your home. We will then ask where the car is kept overnight – it may be the same address, or, if you are borrowing someone else’s car or keeping the car at another address during the policy term, you will need to specify that address for where it is kept overnight.
