Looking for an Audi A1 Sportback review? Then look no further! We recently sent a brand new Audi A1 Sportback to the lovely Alisha to test drive for a week, to give her honest opinion on what she thinks about the car, and if it's a good choice for young drivers.
You can see how she got on in her video!
Hi my name is Alisha, I’m a 25 year old Youtuber from the Midlands and a self professed veteran learner driver.
What do I mean by that? Allow me to explain… Around 4 years ago I began my very long journey to passing my driving test. I won’t bore you with the details but after many tears, retired driving instructors, and many failed tests (6 to be exact), I finally managed to pass my test!
As a younger driver I never really had the opportunity to drive a brand new car. Although I was always a bit nervous about the idea and obviously wary about how expensive they can be, I had always dreamed about one day getting one.
Testing the dream car
When Marmalade gave me the opportunity to test drive a brand new Audi A1 Sportback Technik, I jumped at the chance! I’ll start off my mentioning that an Audi A1 is my absolute dream car, there was always something about them that I absolutely loved and my experience with this one did not disappoint.
Over the course of the week I got to really test out the car and what it was capable of. From more day to day tasks like going to a drive thru, to long distance/motorway driving, it’s safe to say that I enjoyed my experience and felt extremely comfortable and secure. One of the main differences between this car and others I had driven was the fact that it was an automatic. Initially I was really nervous about this but as with anything, practice makes perfect and within the first couple of days I had gotten the hang of it!
Another favourite feature of mine was the various driver friendly controls available. For example “lane control” and “speed control” are both ways to help drive in the safest way possible. This is an especially useful feature when driving on motorways as it avoids drifting and speeding which can obviously be very dangerous. As well as this, the car offers apple car play which allows drivers to access various phone applications such as calls, maps and music on the screen of the car. As someone who loves a good road trip, this is definitely a major bonus.
An Automatic Audi...
One thing I will mention is that I did expect the car to have built in reverse cameras (I kind of thought all new cars had this). Having said this, after reading the manual it did mention that the car does have options where this would be available so that’s good to know! In terms of newer drivers I think an Audi A1 is the perfect choice.
My dad also joined me for a few journeys and said himself that he would feel safer with me in a newer car. I think the main reason for this is that cars such as the A1 are a lot more driver friendly and are more sturdy in general. As a pretty nervous driver myself, I felt extremely safe the entire time (even on the motorway which I am notoriously known for being terrified of!).
Another plus is that the car itself is not too flashy at all. I mean don’t get me wrong it looked beautiful, but in a subtle way that didn’t make me feel like I stuck out like a sore thumb! As I said before, this has always been a car that I dreamt of driving but never really went for as I always thought it would be way too expensive.
So now having learnt about the many options available for new drivers, I wish I had looked into it sooner! I really enjoyed my week and am so happy that I managed to take to it so quickly. This has definitely made me even more interested in getting one for myself in the future… I might even go for an automatic!
