Exam period. Possibly the most daunting time in your education. Constant revision and assignments, it feels like it will never end! Like any student, I struggle to relax and unwind during this period but it is essential to become more productive! So you’re probably thinking, right, what does driving have to do with exams? Apart from driving to the library or to college or university? Well, I usually try lots of things to try and relax, hot bubble baths, a walk around the block, maybe some retail therapy from that lovely student loan. But, since I have had my car, I have found that going for a drive really helps! Just put on some music, maybe pick up a couple of friends and take a trip somewhere. Maybe to the beach or a local heritage site, it really does help.

Finding ways to unwind

Most people find driving relaxing and I definitely do! If you find you’re struggling, get out the house, jump in your car and just drive. As long as you make sure that you have plenty of fuel and maybe a satnav, just in case you get lost, oh, and some good tunes, you’ll feel better! Open your windows, enjoy the fresh air, and cruise!

Time for an adventure!

A few days ago, all the revision and assignments just got too much and I was stressing out, feeling grumpy and just generally down in the dumps. So I got up, grabbed my car keys and went shopping. On the way home, I decided that I wasn’t de-stressed enough and there was no traffic on the roads… Perfect excuse for a drive! So I drove for about half an hour and found myself at a nature reserve and went for a short walk and took some ‘arty’ photos of the scenery. This really helped! Then I soon got hungry so I decided to go home and was refreshed and ready to study again! That afternoon I finished off three assignments and revised for two exams! Pretty productive eh? Another idea is to get a few friends together, grab a blanket and some snacks, jump in your car and go find a nice field or park to settle down and group study! As long as it’s not raining of course! Being outside is really good when you’re studying as you’re not cooped up in your room or in a hot and stuffy library!

If you like a challenge

Alternatively you could hit up your local Go-Kart track for a few laps of adrenaline fuelled fun! It’s generally quite a cheap day out and an opportunity to get competitive with your mates! Karting is a great way of blowing off steam during and after exams. Seems this guy shares the same mind-set! Check out his blog article here –

I hope you feel a little less stressed and a little more relaxed. Lastly, make sure you take care on the roads, get plenty of sleep and eat well. Good luck with your exams!
