Is your Christmas tradition going to your local towns light switch on, watching cliché Christmas films on Netflix and eating your body weight in chocolate for a straight month? Great – us too! But what about if you want to switch it up a bit? If you’re looking for something festive but a little different to do this year – we’ve got a list of weird and wonderful events up and down the country that you’ll love (and you’ll still get time to watch Home Alone for the 17th time this year already!)

Royal Pavilion Ice Rink - Brighton

If you’re looking for twinkly lights, Christmas vibes and inevitably falling over on a freezing cold ice rink – then this is the one for you! The Royal Pavilion in Brighton is a must see for all Christmas lovers, and it’s all topped off with amazing food and drink at the bar and restaurant. It helps that Brighton is a beautiful place to visit all year round – why not make a weekend of it? See the sights and get into the festivities!

Edinburgh's Christmas - Edinburgh

The ultimate place for everything festive. From Christmas shows, silent discos, festive markets and more – there is everything you could ever want in this six week season of Christmas cheer and entertainment, giving you plenty of time to book some time away and make this trip to Edinburgh extra special!

Backyard Cinema - London

Want to get that Christmassy feeling, without the hustle and bustle of a Christmas fair? Backyard cinema is a sought-after alternative cinema experience, that will be sure to put you in the festive mood, showing The Christmas Labyrinth in Winterville Festival, and The Snowman Experience at Winter Wonderland. Nothing says Christmas like singing alone to ‘Walking in the Air’ and crying at a melting snowman, right?

The Snow Centre - Hemel Hempstead

We can keep our fingers crossed for snow on Christmas morning, but as we all know – it’s super unlikely! Instead, why not head to The Snow Centre? You can go skiing, snowboarding and sledging over Christmas and the new year!

Some Voices, The Troxy - London

Forget everything you think you know about Christmas Carols, because ‘London’s coolest choir’ Speakeasy, are inviting you to their brand new Christmas show! This 500 strong choir and a live band will swing you into the Christmas spirit with music from Amy Winehouse to Shirley Bassey and many more for one night only!

Hidden Christmas Market - Leeds

This isn’t your average Christmas market! Get involved in 5 hours of full-on entertainment, with shopping, cocktails, live acts, performances and DJs. This will be a Christmas event to remember and will be sure to get you in the festive spirit!

Christmas after dark - London

You don’t have to spend every evening with a hot drink and a Christmas film. Mix it up this year, and head to Chiswick House and Gardens for their brand new night walk and light display! Walk the trail which is brought to life this Christmas, all topped off with food and drink! You can even take your furry friends on the trip with you – what more could you want?

Any of these trips take your fancy? We’re sure that wherever you’re heading this Christmas you’ll have a great time. Just remember to stay safe on the roads, plan your trips wisely and download the ultimate Christmas playlist for the journey!
