The spread of the Coronavirus means that people all over the world are being asked to stay home. To combat the potential boredom coming our way, we’re all looking for fun things to do and watch to pass the time. To help – here are our top 10 films about cars to keep you going. Which ones will you be watching?

Whether you’re opting for the 1968 original or the 2005 remake – this Walt Disney classic tells the tale of the 1963 Volkswagen Beetle who is capable of driving itself and is often a serious contender in racing competitions.

Baby Driver

This 2017 BAFTA Award-winning film shows former getaway drive, Baby, partaking in a heist when his girlfriend is threatened if he refuses. Of course – we don’t condone driving like Baby does in this film 😉 but it’s a great watch!

Disney Pixar's Cars (1-3)

Of course, Cars had to make it onto the list! Films spanning from 2008-2014 – Join Lightning McQueen, Mater, Doc Hudson and more in these 3 CGI-animated family favourites set in a world populated entirely by talking cars and other vehicles!

The Fast & Furious Saga

Why watch 1 awesome car film when you can watch 8? This series of films is all about fast cars, street racing, heists and spies! If you’ve watched all 8 films but are craving more, there’s also spin-off ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ (2019) and film 9 of the franchise is due next year!

Le Mans '66

Also known as Ford vs Ferrari – this 2019 film stars Matt Damon and Christian Bale and follows a determined team of American engineers and designers on the mission of building the Ford GT40 – a new racing car with the potential to finally defeat the dominant Ferrari racing team!

This 2011 action drama follows Ryan Gosling as an unnamed Hollywood student driver who moonlights as a getaway driver, who falls in love with Irene who is married to a criminal! This film has received plenty of awards, including the Cannes Best Director Award and the Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Action Movie!

The Italian Job

We couldn’t have a top 10 list of car films without including The Italian Job, could we?! This 1969 classic British comedy film tells the story of Charlie Croker, the leader of a cockney criminal gang released from prison with the intention of doing a ‘big job’ in Italy to steal gold bars from an armoured security truck! Also – who hasn’t seen the classic mini-cooper race this film features?

Back to the Future trilogy

From 1985 – 1990, we were given 3 classic American science fiction films following the adventures of high school student, Marty Mcfly and eccentric scientist Dr Emmett L. Brown as they use a DeLorean time machine to travel to different periods of history.

Gone in 60 Seconds

This 2000 film is an American action heist starring Nicholas Cage and Angelina Jolie. It follows a retired master car thief when he must come back to the industry for one night to steal 50 cars in order to save his brother’s life.

Transformers 1-7

If you’re looking for a series of films where the fate of humanity is at stake and there are two races of robots who have the ability to change into different mechanical objects – then look no further, this is the series for you! This series of films hit the big screen in 2007 and has been keeping us entertained ever since, with hopes that the next instalment will be coming over the next couple of years.
