Oh for the love of Valentines! If you’re wondering how you can surprise that special someone this Valentine’s Day, a road trip may be the perfect answer! Don’t have someone to share a road trip with? Grab your friends and still make a getaway. It doesn’t need to be far, or be heavy on the pockets – and you definitely don’t need to sit in having a pity party for one!

We’ve pulled together some great locations for the perfect trip away, whether you’re looking for a romantic break, or somewhere for you and the lads. You can make a day or a weekend of it – it’s entirely up to you!

Anderby Creek, Lincolnshire

Who doesn’t love a beach? Romantic strolls whilst hand in hand can be an amazing way to spend the day with your loved one. What makes this beach so nice, you ask? It’s tucked away between the small seaside towns or Chapel St. Leonard’s and Sutton-on-Sea so you can almost guarantee to have the peaceful day you may have been hoping for. The beach even has a Cloud Bar, and Cloud Menus so you can identify the different cloud formations before you.

You might even want to watch cloud formations with your friends – but if not, maybe a romantic trip to Anderby Creek isn’t the best place to takes your mates.

Lantic Bay, Cornwall

This is the perfect choice to get away from the hustle and bustle of a crowded place. Lantic Bay is sheltered along the south-east coast of Cornwall, so it’s the perfect hidden getaway. And what could make this better? Exercise. Yes, you can only reach this hidden gem by foot so if you’re planning on surprising your loved one with this getaway, make sure they’re wearing sensible shoes before you set off.

If you’re looking for some action and adventure for you and your friends, head over to nearby Adrenalin Quarry at Liskeard and take a zip wire! It’s 490 metres long and is suspended 50 meters about a flooded quarry. It’s definitely not for the faint-hearted!

If keeping your Valentine’s Day low key isn’t what you’re after – London is the place to be! The opportunities in London are all there for the taking, whether you want to have a view from The Shard, take in the art at Tate Modern, or take a stroll on Parliament Hill to watch the sun go down.

If you’re not heading to London for a romance filled trip, there’s plenty to do with your friends! Take a spin on the London Eye, head to the London Zoo or take a bus tour around the city – you’ll be guaranteed to have a great time – and you get to see the best bars to go out in later! We’re just recommending the places you can go, not what you get up to whilst you’re there!

South Laines, Brighton

Do you want a bit of beach and a bit of city all in one? Don’t worry – Brighton has got you covered. With a mix of seaside attractions, museums and independent restaurants, there’s something for everyone! Whether you want to spend the day at the beach, walking along the pier with an ice-cream in hand, or you want a candlelit dinner, Brighton has got it all to offer.

Don’t fancy walking along the pier with your friends? Don’t worry – there’s plenty more that Brighton has to offer. Watch a game at the American Express Community Stadium, or head to the Brighton Marina and experience cinemas, bowling, casinos and more! (They even have glow in the dark golf!)

Paris, France

Ok, this is mainly one for you love birds, and you must REALLY love them if you’ll splash out taking them to Paris, right? Well it doesn’t need to cost as much as you may think. You can hop in your car and take a long weekend away to one of the most beautiful cities! Granted, it will probably cost you more than a trip to your local seaside but it definitely doesn’t need to break the bank. Full or art, fashion and culture, there is something for everyone in Paris and it’s guaranteed to add that extra something for that special day.

Where will you go?

Away with your friends this Valentine’s? We hope something we’ve mentioned will give you a good day/weekend away! And if all else fails, head out in your local town and hope there are other people who also hate Valentine’s Day.

If you’re looking for the romance this Valentine’s Day, there should be something on this list to keep that special someone happy. If not, well… good luck!
