Let’s be honest – we’ve all had the gut-wrenching moment when you drop you phone, it’s landed face down – and you spend a good 5 minutes avoiding picking it up because there is a chance your screen will be shot. We all spend crazy amounts of time on our gadgets, so just like everything else that is important to us, we need to protect it!

Individual gadgets may not be covered by your home insurance or car insurance, so if you don’t think you’d be able to afford to replace your portable tech, then it may be a good idea to consider insurance for your essential gadget(s).

What is gadget insurance?

If you’re a bit confused about gadget insurance, don’t worry – we’ve got the low down right here!

Usually, you can cover your gadgets for:

  • Theft
  • Loss (usually extra)
  • Mechanical breakdown
  • Accidental damage
  • Liquid damage
  • Accidental damage, including a cracked screen

If any of these happen, having gadget insurance in place will be a life saver! You give your insurer a call, and they will cover the cost of repairing or replacing your gadget (dependent on your cover type). Our friends over at Gadget Cover give you all of the above, not just when you’re in the UK, but anywhere in the world!

Do you need to cover your gadgets?

Whilst it isn’t essential like your car insurance, you may want to cover your gadgets if:

  • They’re expensive
  • It is essential that you have your gadget and it is operational
  • You use your gadgets when you’re away from home

If you’re clumsy and know you may need to make more than one claim a year on your gadget cover, you need to make sure that your policy will allow you to do this. Over at Gadget Cover – you can have unlimited claims so no matter how many times you drop your phone down the toilet, they’ll put it right.

Another great time to get gadget cover is if you’re away from home for a long time, like heading to uni. Whilst your gadgets may be covered at home on the house insurance, there’s a chance they won’t be covered when you pack up your things and move into halls – so it’s wise to get a policy to cover your important tech whilst you’re away – plus no one wants to deal with a broken laptop when a deadline is looming, do they?

Let’s face it, having insurance cover in place is a weight lifted from your shoulders, should you have an accident with your gadgets.

How do I insure my phone or gadget?

Our friends at Gadget Cover have over 20 years of experience in the field, so they can make sure your favourite tech is covered! What’s more, you can even get 1 month free when you get an annual policy, so you’ll be saving money too!
