If you’re still learning to drive like Nicole, heading out on the roads and getting in as much driving practice before your test is a great way to build confidence and skill! We’ve got plenty of tips to help learner drivers – here are our top three!

Make checklists

A great way to prepare for your driving test is to work out which aspects of your driving needs improving, and focus on them one at a time until you perfect them all. Making checklists will help keep you on track with your driving progress!

Set a realistic timescale

Learning to drive is costly and time-consuming, so shouldn’t be jumped into blindly. Before starting your learning to drive journey, you need to make sure that you’ve got the time and money to do so.

Swot up on your theory

You don’t have to wait until you start your driving lessons to perfect the theory test. Swot up now and get the test done and out the way – you’ve then got 2 years before it runs out to focus on passing your practical test!

Many new drivers will be hitting the road this summer, and experiencing their first summer road trip! For some, this can be an exciting yet nerve-wracking adventure. We’ve got plenty of tips to help nervous new drivers – here’s our top three!

Stick to what you know

Try to avoid picking up bad driving habits and cutting corners. Remember to keep both hands on the wheel, check blinds spots, signal early – everything you already know you should be doing.

Believe in yourself

One of the most important things to combat new driver nerves is to believe in yourself. You drive well enough to pass your test, so you’re more than capable. you’ve got this!

Make a plan

If you’re already nervous about driving, heading off without a plan will make it much worse. Check your fuel levels, plan your pitstops, check your route and more before you hop in the car. This will help to keep you calm and collected behind the wheel.

The amazing Amy took up our #FreeForSummer challenge, letting her Instagram followers control where she went, who she went with and what she did – they even controlled what she ate! Lucy ended up on a road trip with her sister, Amy. They took in the sights of a lovely Scottish country park, had a pretty special lunch and gave viewers a fab Q&A! Check out Lucy’s video to see what else they got up to!

Lucy isn’t the only one heading out on a road trip this summer! If you’re undecided on where to go, but don’t fancy your Instagram followers deciding – here are 3 picks on scenic places you can visit this summer!

Stratford upon Avon

Stratford upon Avon – AKA Shakespeare country – is very renowned for being one of the most romantic market towns in the UK. With its pretty black and white Tudor style houses, its variety of shops and restaurants, and of course the Royal Shakespeare Theatre where you can experience spectacular fairy-tale like shows, and some of the classics written by the man himself.

If you’re not a country person and more enjoy the hustle and bustle of a busy city – then London is definitely for you. The capital has never-ending options when it comes down to things to see and do. Whether you fancy a whirl on the London Eye, a cruise down the River Thames, a scout around the endless number of shops, museums and monuments, or a taste of pretty much any cuisine you can think of – there’s always something for everyone in this place and you won’t be disappointed.

The New Forst

The New Forest is situated in the South East of England, mainly covering Wiltshire, Hampshire and Dorset.  This beautiful, scenic part of the UK is famous for its National Park, home to many species of wildlife, ancient woodland, open moors and walking trails. It’s not just for nature lovers though! There’s an abundance of activities for you and your mates to get involved in such as cycling, horse riding, water sports, golf, along with relaxing spa treatments and facilities.

No matter what stage of driving you’re at, Marmalade is here to help! The summer months are the perfect time to get behind the wheel, whether you’re cramming in practice before your test, looking at getting your hands on some new wheels, or simply embracing the freedom driving gives you. Whatever you need, we’ve got your back.
