A recent poll on Twitter has shown that a staggering 50% of learner drivers do not feel prepared for the driving test changes at all, whilst 19% feel they’re only prepared for a few different aspects of the changes, coming on the 4th of December. If you too are struggling with this, then you don’t need to worry because we are doing everything we can to get you prepared for the new driving test format!
What is changing on the UK driving test?
The format of the test is changing to include new reversing manoeuvres. These are:
- Pulling up on the right and reversing two car lengths
- Forward bay park
- Reverse bay park
- Parallel park
There is also an extended independent drive using a sat nav. We have a lot of information on our blog and young drivers guide, with more and more helpful tips and how-to guides coming throughout the end of this year – so you can feel as prepared as possible when it comes to the big day!
70% of young people feel like the Guinea Pig generation because they’re having to deal with these changes, as well as GCSE and A Level changes, all in one year! It is a lot to take on board, so we’re hoping our campaign can help! #TeamGuineaPig is running on all of our social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram – giving you daily prizes for getting involved!
Fancy seeing your favourite band in concert? Great! We’ve also got a competition over on our website, to win 1 of 3 £150 Ticketmaster vouchers!
Here at Marmalade, we care about young drivers, so if we can take away a bit of the stress of learning to drive, with competitions, advice and real-life stories then that is exactly what we’ll do.
The first time pass rate of driving tests is only 21%, and we don’t know how this percentage will be affected once the changes actually come into place. We know you will try your best when it comes to the big day, but if it doesn’t happen – it’s not the end of the world. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and get booked in for another go… You can do it!
You’ve got this!
You’ve spent a lot of time and money learning to drive, to give you the freedom that we all wish for, so just remember – you can do it! It won’t be long before you’re out on the open road!
