I’m delighted to see the launch of Get a Real Deal campaign by the Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB) and the Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department (IFED).
The campaign includes an animated video warning young people about being duped by fraudsters selling fake car insurance: http://www.getarealdeal.co.uk/
The scam has been given the apt title of ‘ghost broking’ and purposely targets younger people who will have less experience of insurance quoting procedures.
They are seen as easy prey which is not acceptable so I’m equally pleased to see several high profile fraud cases recently coming to court and harsh penalties being handed out.
The insurance industry should take the lead when it comes to young people – these are the customers of the future, whatever the insurance line.
In the sphere of motor insurance we go out of our way to provide a helping hand for this age group and their families and that makes activities such as ‘ghost broking’ even the more galling.
Marmalade wholeheartedly supports the work of IFED and IFB that will track down and prosecute more of these criminal activities.
It needs to be stamped out completely to ensure young drivers get off to the right start in their motoring career.
