Marmalade technology used in BBC documentary “How Safe are Britain’s Roads?”
Technology from young driver specialist Marmalade is put to the test in the BBC2 Documentary looking at the safety of UK roads being broadcast 31st October 2012 and 7th November 2012
In this two-part documentary presenters Justin Howlett and Anita Rani clock up the miles and find out what it is like to drive with technology installed in their cars.
This technology puts a different spin on the vexed question of insurance for young drivers.
The documentary will highlight the problems faced by motorists, which leads to high insurance. The statistics show that 1 young driver in 5 has a crash in the first 12 months and this is one of the major reasons behind the massive increase in premiums for this sector over the past few years.
“At Marmalade we look at things the other way around as 4 out of 5 young drivers don’t crash,” says Crispin Moger, managing Director at Marmalade. “Many young drivers come to us and say that they are good drivers, so why should they pay for the poor driving of others in their age and gender group?”
“With technology, young drivers can prove that they are good drivers and deserve a lower premium”
Moger continues, “Car Manufacturers are keen to get young drivers ‘On Brand’ and give us support which we pass on to the young drivers. In many cases this support is greater than the cost of the first year’s insurance so effectively we are supplying a brand new, safer, car with free insurance and the monthly cost is often lower than the monthly cost of traditional insurance on its own.”
“We are delighted that the BBC approached Marmalade to showcase the technology that is making a significant impact on reducing the cost of motoring for young drivers”
How Safe Are Britain’s Roads is broadcast on BBC2 at 9pm on Wednesday 31st October 2012 and the final episode is Wednesday 7th November 2012 Marmalade Cars for Young Drivers
