Peugeot’s latest supermini is a real winner. Ideal for first time drivers who are going to be doing the bulk of their driving in the city, it’s compact, easy to drive, and cheap to run.
The thing that marks the 108 out from the increasingly crowded supermini market is its generous infotainment system – if it’s kit you’re after, this is one of the best-equipped hatchbacks on the market.
We've featured the PEUGEOT 108 HATCHBACK 1.0 Active 5dr on this page, as one of our bestselling cars. The Peugeot 108 with the following features as standard, plus many more – from only £186 per month with 1 year's free insurance!
Our tailored package is designed to get you on the road in your first car, at fab prices. Finance* is only available from age 18, but don't worry if you're not eligible for finance, an application can be made by a parent or guardian!
The French motoring brand Peugeot is back with a bang with this new hot hatch, lining up impressively amongst its recent output – the successful 208, 508 and the sporty RCZ. Peugeot has placed a real emphasis on cutting emissions with its latest releases, and this is another area where the 108 delivers cost savings – and eco-friendly karma points.
With finely tuned engines, the 108 ride is smooth, quiet and refined. It’s very roomy up front, but does lack space in the back. Your mates might get a bit claustrophobic on longer journeys – this is really a car that’s better suited to the city. Boot space is on the small side too, offering up 180 litres. Where the 108 won’t let you down is in the kit stakes. The cabin’s centred round a 7-inch colour touchscreen, with USB, aux-in and Bluetooth, a DAB radio, multifunction steering wheel and Mirror Link function for use with Android devices.
As standard on all models you’ll get six airbags, stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system and hill-hold control to prevent any nasty backwards rolls downhill. The 108 picked up a decent four out of five star Euro NCAP rating and a four out of five star security rating from Thatcham for its resistance to being stolen.
You can choose between two 108 engine sizes – a 1.0-litre and a 1.2-litre, and whatever 108 you go for it is free of road tax until 2017. Fuel economy is impressive too. Opt for the cleanest Active Stop & Start 1.0-litre model and you’ll bag 74.3mpg, while the more powerful 82bhp 1.2-litre unit still boasts a value-for-money 65.7mpg. Expect to pay around £7 per 100 miles for fuel.
Insurance-wise, the 108 range sits within insurance groups 6 to 12.
