Hey Drivers, it's me, Jim!

So autumn is finally upon us, believe it or not, and that means there are lots of exciting things to get up to at this time of year and the coming months. If you know me well, you will know that autumn is one of my favourite seasons in the year. So today I am here to give you a few fun ideas of things you can get up to whilst having fun admiring the changing leaves! For some of you it might be time for the massive step in your life that is your driving test - so sit back, relax, and let me do the worrying for you!

So it's the morning of your practical driving exam, and let's be honest, you're probably a little (or a lot) nervous - but don't worry, that's natural! We all get nervous and it would probably be a bit more worrying if you weren't nervous at all!

Things to bear in mind when doing your driving test this time of year

  1. Most people are at work and school so this means that the roads are a bit less busy and this can be majorly in your favour when it comes to doing your test.
  2. Although the temperature is a lot colder which means there could be a chance of frosts or icy roads, this gives you the perfect opportunity for you to show your examiner that you are perfectly in control of your vehicle! Make sure you've got your heater on correctly so that the windscreen doesn't steam up; make sure you're taking extra caution with the roads if there is ice this morning; Make sure you wipe your feet properly so that they don't slip about on the pedals if the ground outside was wet - all these things your examiner notice when deciding if you are a safe driver or not.
  3. And finally, relax! There's no hurry! This time of year could be a much better time to drive if you take all the necessary precautions. The reason that a lot of young drivers fail their test around the summer months is because they are too desperate to pass so that they can fit in that festival or summer holiday with their friends. However, there is not as much of any hurry around this time of year, so just pace yourself and enjoy driving!

If this applies to you and your driving test is fast approaching, good luck! Make sure you let me know how you do on all my social channels!

Fun things to do before all the leaves disappear

Now then, so you've passed your test or have been driving for a while? What can you get up to with your friends (or even alone to relax) at this time of year? Well, let me tell you this is one of the most beautiful times of the calendar so hopefully with a few tips I can help you make the most out of it BEFORE all the leaves have fallen!

If you happen to have some free time and want to do something with your friends to get yourselves into the autumnal spirit, why not find your nearest Starbucks drive thru, grab yourselves a hot (or cold) Pumpkin spice latte, and then head out on your autumnal excursion!

We are lucky here in the UK to have many places of natural beauty dotted around the country, some of these including Arboretums. I would highly recommend looking online to see if you live near any of these magical places - they bring back memories of when I was younger with my family! Around this time of year we would pack some camping stoves in the boot of the car along with some sliced onions, sausages and hot dog buns, then we would spend the day wondering around looking at all the spectacular colours of the trees and admiring the wildlife, then set up and cook some amazing hot dogs! If you've got a free weekend, take your camera and have the most amazing times with some of your friends!

Autumn also means one more thing - Halloween! Get yourself in the mood by finding a local pumpkin farm if there is one near you! Not only are these farms absolutely stunning when you see all the pumpkins growing (and also make stunning social media profile pictures and banners of you and your friends among the giant orange suckers), but it also means you can pick some amazing pumpkins, go home have fun carving them and make pumpkin soup or pumpkin pie - I couldn't think of anything more autumnal than that!

So I hope you have enjoyed reading this blog post, that's all from me today. Make sure you let me know if you enjoyed this seasonally themed post and maybe I can do some more for you in the future!

Anyway, thanks for reading and have an awesome autumn!

Jim :)
